DiscHawk

Privacy policy

Last updated 19 September 2026

What this site is

DiscHawk ("this site", "we") is a UK price-comparison site for Blu-ray and 4K UHD releases (see About). This policy covers the personal data this site collects directly. It doesn't cover the retailers you're taken to when you click a "Buy" link — their own privacy policies apply there.

What we collect

  • Email address, if you sign up for price-drop alerts on a title — along with which title or edition you asked to be notified about. This is the only personal data we collect through alerts.
  • Contact form details, if you write to us through the contact form: your email address, your name if you give one, your message, and the retailer name and website if you are suggesting one.
  • Standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested), generated automatically by our hosting provider for security and reliability. We don't combine these with your email address.

Anonymous, aggregated usage data via Vercel Web Analytics — which pages are visited and roughly how many people visit them. This doesn't use cookies or any persistent identifier tied to your browser, and it isn't linked to your email address if you've signed up for alerts. We don't currently run advertising on this site, so no advertising cookies are set. If that changes, this policy — and a cookie consent banner, which advertising would require — will be updated first.

Why we collect it, and the legal basis

Your email address is used only to send you the price-drop alert you signed up for. The legal basis is your consent, given when you submit the sign-up form. You can withdraw that consent at any time — see "Your rights" below.

Contact form details are used only to read and reply to your message. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in responding to people who write to us.

Who we share it with

We don't sell or share your email address with third parties. It's stored with our database provider (Neon) and, once alert-sending is built, may pass through an email-delivery provider solely to send that alert — this section will be updated with specifics before that feature launches.

How long we keep it

We keep your email address for as long as you have an active price-drop alert, or until you ask us to remove it. We keep contact form messages for as long as needed to deal with them, and delete them on request.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask to see, correct, or delete the data we hold about you, or withdraw consent to be emailed — email hello@dischawk.co.uk to do any of these. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office if you think we've mishandled your data.

Changes to this policy

If how we handle data changes — for example, when analytics, advertising, or alert-sending are switched on — we'll update this page and the date at the top.
